PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
March 16, 2023
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — Club Q is now taking additional steps to build an advisory and development team to help organize, guide and lead the projects that will usher Club Q into its next chapter.
We are pleased to announce that Tara Bush (also known as DJ T-BeatZ) has joined our team as our Executive Administrator. She will be working directly with Club Q President Matthew Haynes and Vice President of Operations Michael Anderson.
Tara is a native to Colorado, but was raised as a military child. She traveled the world often with her family during that time, and had been exposed to various cultures and types of music. It was her love of music that led her to become a self-taught DJ. Tara has been attending Club Q since she was 19 years old and has been Club Q’s resident DJ for seven years. Tara always found Club Q to be a safe space, and she could regularly be found spinning the hottest music on the weekends at Club Q.
Tara was DJ-ing on the night of November 19th, 2022, during the deadly hate attack against Club Q and the LGTBQIA+ community. Tara heard gunshots fire off shortly before midnight, and recalls thinking that one of the speakers on the dance floor had blown. She saw gunfire being directed towards those in the upper bar area, when she realized our community was under attack. During her attempt to escape, Tara received three bullet wounds: two in her back, and one in her left arm. She was hospitalized for 27 days following the shooting.
It is stories like Tara’s, and so many other survivors, that remind us of our strength and resilience as a community. Tara remains excited and focused on returning Club Q as a safe space, and we are thrilled to have her join our team. We look forward to working together and continuing to build a strong team of leaders.
